If you are unsure whether this might be the right course for you or you wish to book a place for your child, then please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

Group Sizes

Our group sizes are purposely kept quite small (max. of 12) so that students can collaborate with one another, gaining essential group work and confidence skills. You'll have the chance to interact with the course leader and your peers during our sessions, giving you the chance to gauge how you're progressing and how your classmates are tackling the course material.

Course Format

Our Pre-University Preparation Course offers a platform where students can gain a deeper understanding of the academic skills required for a smooth transition into higher education.

Our sessions are devised of both traditional lectures and interactive tutorials which prepare students for the independent format of learning that characterises university education.

The content is tailored to support students gain a fundamental understanding of criminal law in Scotland, however this is at a more advanced stage than our beginners course. It is recommended that students complete this first before going on to this (our intermediate) criminal course so that they have the necessary understanding of the principles of criminal liability.

At intermediate level, they will consider the offences of murder and culpable homicide. By the end of the course, they will be able to identify the difference between the two through scenario based tasks. In addition, they will understand the different legal standards between the two offences. In addition, we will cover legal defences such as self-defence, alibi and incrimination and how an accused person could hope to rely on these.
