About the event

Welcome to Scots Law Talks.

Join us for an exciting evening where we deliver our Criminal Law Series: The Guilty Act event!

Taking place on Saturday 31st May 2025 at 19:00 GMT, this in-person event is a must-attend for anyone interested or curious in understanding criminal law in Scotland.

In this talk, we promise Real Cases, Real Crimes, Real Scotland.

But what is a guilty act? What happens if you commit an offence by accident? Can alcohol or drugs ever excuse crime?

We will explore the 'guilty act' through looking at true crime cases which have shaped the law. You'll have the opportunity to gain an understanding of key aspects of criminal law in Scotland, ask questions, and engage in thought-provoking discussions with fellow attendees.
