About the event

Welcome to Scots Law Talks.

Join us for our brand-new talk in the Criminal Law Series: Taking Secrets to the Grave, coming in the second half of 2025.

Taking place on Friday 27th June 2025 at 19:00 GMT, this in-person event is a must-attend for anyone interested or curious in understanding criminal law in Scotland.

What happens when justice is served, but the truth remains buried? The trial is over, the sentence is passed, yet the victim’s final resting place is still unknown. Families are left in limbo, searching for answers that may never come.

In Taking Secrets to the Grave, we examine Scotland’s Parole System, uncovering how offenders are released and the legal and ethical dilemmas posed by those who refuse to reveal the fate of their victims.

Should parole be denied to those who withhold the truth? Should their silence mean they are never released?
